May 15: An Amtrak train struck a log truck yesterday morning at a crossing near
Coosawhatchie, SC, derailing all 10 cars and the engine and injuring 10 people, 2 seriously. Most injuries involved neck and back problems. The train, which carried 113 people, was bound for Florida from New York when it left the tracks about 35 miles north of Savannah, GA. The cause of the accident was under investigation.
