Man Killed by Toxic Cloud in Rail Wreck
Two cars still leaking ammonia

A Canadian Pacific train derailed yesterday near Minot, ND, sending
anhydrous ammonia gas over the area and killing one person.
The fertilizer, which boils at 25 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, quickly
bloomed into a thick, white toxic cloud that shrouded much of the city
early Friday and left it smelling like household cleaner.
One man
died after he was overcome by fumes while trying to flee his home. More
than 120 people sought medical attention, and 15 were hospitalized. Five
patients required intensive care. Dozens still can't return to their homes
until ammonia levels in the air subside.
