AN UPDATE FROM UTNE STACKS

Watchdog Publications

Keeping an eye on the public good. Nuclear waste transported on interstate highways. Food grown from "terminator" seeds. Crypto-Nazis running for office. Bias in the mass media.

Few daily papers cover these topics in depth. Those that do seem to strive more for a balanced view than for getting at the truth. How can we be informed about so many threats to our well-being? Whose word can be trusted? We would do well to read publications that specialize in shining light in dark places.

... The grassroots quarterly Nukewatch Pathfinder covers the international nuclear weapons and nuclear power industries, and concomitant citizens’ nonviolent resistance. A recent issue reported on a Japanese reactor rupture and on groundwater contamination from nuclear bomb building in the United States. $25 donation suggested, payable to Progressive Foundation, Box 649, Luck, WI 54853; www.nukewatch.com.
